Set up departments, locations and reporting

Build your organization structure: legal organization, units, locations and numbering.

Your organization structure drives reporting, holidays, attendance and statutory setup. Locations matter in India because state rules such as professional tax and Labour Welfare Fund depend on where people work.

1. Go to Organization → Org structure.
2. Under Units, teams & cost centres, select Add to create a department, business unit, team or cost centre. Give it a unit name and code.
3. Under Locations & branches, select Add to create each office, with its state code.
4. Check Years & employee numbering: financial year start, payroll year start and the employee number prefix and sequence.
5. Review the Organization launch checks to see what still needs setup.

Add locations before you add holidays and statutory registrations, so each can be linked to the right place.
